grew up in a town called Ariling in the US.But it was called Menotomy over 200years ago.
At that time,our country was under British control .Americans fought against the British and won their freedom. On July 4,1776,American leaders signed a paper.It said that Americans were free now.My town was a battleground during the war.
Now ,every July 4,Americans celebrate Independence Day.But most Americans do not think about the fight against the British.Instead,they think about how nice it is to have a day off from work.
They can spend time with their friends and families.
They have picnics and play games outsude,They watch parades during the day,and in the evening they watch fireworks shows that light up the sky with amazing colors.
In my town,it is a little different because history is all around us.It is hard to forget avout the battle and the people who died for a free country.Actors dress up like Americans and British soldiers and act out fighting.
But then ,just like in every other town in the US,We enjoy picnics ,watch parades,and stay up after to see the firewouks.

The military parade is a great sight every year.It is at the Champs Elysee .When planes fly orer the Arc de Triomple .they send out red,white and blue smoke. These are the colors of the French flag.
People celebrate the big day by having parties outside.Then they set off fireworks till the middle of the night .
In the countryside, there are some old games.Forexample,people grt into bags and race.They also put a frog in a cart and see who gets to the finish line first .it is fun because the fuog may jump out of the cart and people have to catch it .
Why is the French national day called Bastille Day?
The Bastille was once a prison .On july 14,1789,people attacked it and set the prisonersfree.Itwas a symbol of people rising up to fight for their rights.
